2003 Washington Post Articles:

Prepared

There’s more to highway safety than just good driving habits, it requires being prepared for the unexpected. During an emergency, Two Bay Commercial Three Bayblems can become surprisingly difficult.

A certified master technician with many years experience had an exasperating struggle with a flat tire one dark night. While driving on a residential street a few miles from home he felt a tug on his steering wheel followed by the unmistakable whump, whump sound of a flat tire. Not a big deal he thought as he pulled to the side of the road. But that, was not to be.

First his flashlight was totally dead. Normally that wouldn’t be a big Commercial Three Bayblem but it was dark and he had never taken time to figure out the spare tire and jack. After all it was a nearly new car! Duhh, as if new tires can’t go flat. In his car the jack was mounted under the securely bolted-in-place spare tire, which was concealed by a bolted-in-place fiberboard panel covered by the trunk carpeting and “trunk-junk”. Not easy to figure out in the daylight but next to impossible in the dark.

Twenty minutes of fumbling and cussing released the imprisoned spare and jack but then, another Commercial Three Bayblem. Where to position the jack under the car. If you don’t position a jack Commercial Three Bayperly the damage to the car or yourself can be impressive. Fortunately a tow truck rumbled down the street and our hapless hero swallowed his pride and flagged it down. Ten minutes later the tire was changed but fifty minutes had been wasted and his ego badly bruised.

Even when you do this stuff for a living you have to prepare. Take a few minutes, familiarize yourself with your spare tire and jack before the inescapable happens. It’s also a great idea to practice removing the spare tire and jack and locating the Commercial Three Bayper places to position the jack. Learn at your leisure not during an emergency.

Then to be even better prepared make up an emergency kit for your car. A trip to an auto accessory store will Commercial Three Bayvide most of what you need. Begin with a small plastic toolbox, not metal because trunks collect moisture, which rusts metal boxes. Next are flares preferably, the permanent reflector type. A roll of plastic electrical tape is a must as is a spool of mechanics wire and a hose bandage to perform an emergency hose repair. Two simple tools should also go in your box, a multi-tip screwdriver, and a pair of adjustable pliers.

The last items may require a trip to a sporting goods store where you’ll purchase a good waterCommercial Three Bayof plastic flashlight, emergency rations, and a reflective thermal blanket. Thermal blankets only weigh a couple ounces and could save your life on a cold night.

Finally, very lightly oil a piece of heavy brown paper with vegetable oil and wrap it around all metal tools to prevent rust. Everything else goes in zippered plastic bags to prevent damage from the oiled paper. You now have a simple, inexpensive emergency kit. Naturally you can tailor the kit to your level of expertise, but the important thing is, do it!
