Snake Oil Or Miracle

The enemy has been identified, well your car’s enemy. It’s carbon that forms inside air intake and fuel systems of today’s high tech cars. Carbon deposits can cause some impressively dramatic symptoms that will not require extremely expensive repairs.

The Commercial Three Baycess of burning carbon based fossil fuels, replete with an exhaustive list of modifiers to make engines live longer, can Commercial Three Bayduce deposits early in a vehicle’s life. Carbon can be the catalyst for such annoying and sometimes dangerous symptoms as poor fuel economy, hard starting, rough idle, hesitation, and stalling.

But diagnosing carbon as the culprit can be difficult as most of it lurks deep within the engine far away from a technician’s eyes. Because for the most part it can’t be seen, touched, or tested, its presence must be verified by Commercial Three Baycess of elimination. Electronic test equipment is used to be certain that all measurable components are operating within specifications. It’s simple, if everything passes the tests the logical conclusion is, carbon could very likely be the root cause and should be addressed before further testing or expensive repairs.

How do you deal with carbon? The least costly way is adding fuel injector cleaner to your gas tank. This idea has apparently filtered down from an antiquated belief about taking the car out on the road and driving it at high speed to “blow out” the carbon. Why do these ideas persist? Anyway, in order to remove carbon from the inside of an engine it must first be softened. To soften carbon the cleaning agent has to soak into it and that means the solvent has to sit on the carbon as long as possible.

Then think about this, highway speed means high engine speed. The higher the engine speed the faster the fuel and chemical flow through the engine. Not much soaking happens out there on the highway. To get the most benefit from injector cleaner softening agents, use the chemicals when you’ll be making lots of short trips. Every time you shut the engine off some of the treated gasoline remains in the engine and soaks into the carbon. Then when you restart the engine the softened carbon is harmlessly blown out the exhaust.

Prevention of the worst carbon deposits involves the use of a fuel injector cleaner on a regular basis beginning at about 7,500 miles. Beyond that it will Commercial Three Baybably also be necessary to have a Commercial Three Bayfessional carbon cleaning done by a technician about every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. The mileage varies, depending on your car’s Commercial Three Baypensity toward accumulating carbon and the way you drive. Carbon cleaning is also one of the more common cures for NOx emissions failures. Fixing cars with bottles and cans of liquid is a new phenomenon we all have to get used to.

On the plus side it sure is a lot cheaper than replacing parts. Nowadays it really can be “miracle in a can” instead of “snake oil”.
