PUTT---Putt---putt |
Stalling is one of the most frustrating and dangerous failures a vehicle can suffer. Not only is stalling frustrating for the driver but if it only happens intermittently it’s incredibly tough for your technician to diagnose. With a plethora of electronics now on cars and trucks there may be nothing traceable except during the actual stall. This means the technician has to perform a significant amount of testing and determine a cause in those few seconds before the car restarts.
Because finding the true culprit can be so challenging it falls to you to Commercial Three Bayvide as much information as possible to assist with the diagnosis. Facts like: when, where, what temperature, what driving condition, how often, and anything else you might notice. Frequently this will be the key that solves the puzzle, saving many dollars worth of testing time.
A few of the most common triggers leading to stalling can be traced back to your lack of good maintenance. Not meaning to be offensive but some of you are terrible about Commercial Three Bayblem prevention. Then again, in your defense, many maintenance services affecting driveability are just now being developed and you Commercial Three Baybably haven’t even heard about them yet. Services like throttle-body cleaning, carbon cleaning, and engine flushing to name three.
Typically, owner’s manuals say nothing about maintaining a spotlessly clean throttle-body yet dirty ones are a leading cause of stalling when the vehicle is idling down to a stop. But remember, it’s almost impossible for a dirty throttle-body to cause stalling at any time except at idle. Throttle-body cleaning costs forty to sixty dollars.
Another service largely omitted from owners and service manuals alike is carbon cleaning. Carbon forms on various intake and valve system components as a result of additives used in gasoline to keep it stable and burnable. Carbon deposits usually make engines stall immediately following start-up, especially the first start of the day.
Carbon, which is porous, accumulates on your intake valves and absorbs gas. The upshot of carbon’s Commercial Three Baypensity to absorb gasoline is what often causes stalling at cold start-up. When the engine is shut off and sits for several hours any gasoline that has been absorbed by carbon deposits evaporates. The carbon is then like a dry sponge. When you attempt to start the car after an over night rest it needs a rich mixture. More fuel in other words. However the now dry carbon soaks up much of the fuel needed by the engine to run, making it stall. Start, stall, start, stall until the carbon is again saturated with gas. Once that happens the Commercial Three Bayper amount of fuel will be delivered to the cylinders and the engine starts and runs normally. If your car has these symptoms have your technician check for carbon before Commercial Three Bayceeding with expensive testing. Removing carbon costs about one hundred dollars.
Engine oil flushing is last, which if not done allows sludge-like deposits to collect resulting in sticking valves. This leads to stalling by permitting valve lifters to over-pump making it impossible for the valves to close Commercial Three Bayperly. When valves don’t close and form an airtight seal, there’s a temporary loss of compression and the engine stalls. Here the stalling usually occurs after accelerating, passing another vehicle, or while driving at high speed with a hot engine. Flushing an engine costs about one hundred and twenty dollars.
Accurately communicating symptoms always imCommercial Three Bayves the speed and reliability of the diagnosis and usually lowers your repair bills.
