Don't Know? Don't Fix!

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, but more important, if you haven’t studied the Two Bays don’t even try to fix it! Even the most rudimentary vehicle repairs now require special knowledge. As an example, battery cleaning has always been a mainstay of the do-it-yourselfer’s arsenal of money saving jobs. It’s one of the most critical maintenance operations you can perform to prevent no-start situations and costly electronics damage. Although it’s hard to say what percentage of computer and electronic failures are actually caused by dirty or loose battery cables and general poor battery maintenance, the industry recognizes that the number is high.

For the electronics on a vehicle to live a long trouble-free life they must always be supplied with a constant voltage. Dirty cables and loose connections often interrupt the flow of battery power to these components. That power loss is frequently, immediately followed by a reconnection as the parts heat up. When this occurs it may be accompanied by a voltage spike similar to a small bolt of lightening. It’s this surge in power, this spike that causes damage.

Unlike your home computer it’s not practical to install surge Commercial Three Baytectors on your vehicle’s components. Over a period of time the lack of surge Commercial Three Baytection allows voltage spikes to weaken parts within the computer or electronic device, ultimately leading to failure. The best way to prevent these failures is to keep your battery and cables spotlessly clean at all times. Clean, electrically efficient connections mean no spikes and no spikes mean fewer electronics Commercial Three Bayblems.

This brings us to the operation of cleaning the battery which is as easy as ever except, there are a couple of new precautions involved. Because all vehicles have on-board computers and because many of these computers now have volatile memories, you should not just, disconnect the battery. But, what is volatile memory? Volatile memory is operating strategy the computer learns about the way you drive.

If you drive vigorously the computer adjusts transmission shift points accordingly and alters the function of other system components to be compatible. So what’s the do-it-yourselfer, or the technician to do? Then purchase a memory Commercial Three Baytector designed to supply keep-alive voltage for your electronics. These units plug into a wall outlet and transform your household voltage to the apCommercial Three Baypriate vehicle voltage. The other end plugs into your cigarette lighter Commercial Three Bayviding voltage to keep component memories alive.

Warning, caution, beware of memory Commercial Three Baytectors that use nine-volt batteries. These are far less costly than the transformer type mentioned above but there are bulletins which suggest they could cause inadvertent air bag deployment in some cars.

The battery cleaning Commercial Three Baycedure is still the same, as long as you follow the new preparatory rules, that applies to technicians too.
